So, as I have been listening to music this evening (one of my favorite pastimes), I come across a song whose chorus seems to explain my current state of mind regarding a friend of mine. "Can't Stop, Won't Stop" by Young Gunz. Let me share the lyrics first (remixed, of course - cuz I'm not paying any royalties LOL):
Can't stop, won't stop, DJ Fani Records,
Cause she, she get dooown baby, she get doooown,
The boys, the boys, they love me,
Cause she stay fresh to death, she the best, nothing less!
I'm not sure why, but the one really cool friend in my circle, I find myself strongly attracted to. Let's just say, he's right up my alley. But, as explained previously, we can't go there right now. So much in common, but so much that must be held at bay. So, okay, fine, I can abide by those rules.
Or so I tell myself.
After all, I live in Miami again, and I am that proverbial kid in a candy store. And although half of the candy here might make you sick and just isn't my flavor, there's always something in a candystore that will give you that kid-grin. Plenty to choose from.
I've never been particularly aggressive where men are concerned. I'd much rather prefer to flirt just enough to show interest and then let them ask me out. And often, they do, except that it calls for me to be patient and I'm not the most patient girl around, so the plan is not foolproof. But because I feel like I'm going to be coming from a place of innocence - I am not plotting on his ass, I promise! - I feel okay to take this next step.
So, one of my favorite music groups is coming in concert. I can't imagine missing the show, and he already knows I adore them, so I was going to ask him to tag along with me. Strictly friends. Of course, it's only because I really am asking as only a friend that I'm able to ask him at all. Because if I was to think of this as a date, my heart would start racing and I'd get all shy and introverted and not ask. Ugh! I hate that me as she does not serve any purpose!!
Anyways, I'm going to put it out there and see what the response is. Either way, I did some thinking on it further (as only over-analytical me tends to do) and I started thinking, "Does this make me something of a hunter?" I'm aware that he's got his hands full, but I still just think he'd be so fun to go to the concert with and I know we'd have a blast. But what does that conversation sound like for him? Should he be having fun out with another female (albeit strictly platonic...SAYS ME)? And would I understand that if the shoe was on the other foot?
What is it about this particular friend that has me feeling like I'm walking on a tight rope? I'm not a fan of this feeling, but nonetheless, I can't stop. I won't stop! Because just like when you're on a tight rope, you are on a high. He's just such an awesome person to be around. And no, I don't think it makes him an asshole, because I'm an awesome person to be around, too, and we're possibly just caught up in each other's vaccuums right now :D It's not his fault he likes acting the fool with Estefania...it happens to the best of em...SAYS ME otra vez LOL
Besides, if he just starts taking me around, I can find someone WITHOUT a situation, and then any issues from that won't be mine!! :D
Ooooh, this calls for some Marc Anthony and La India "Vivir Lo Nuestro." Another song I've been jammin tonight...it gets me up and moving and shifts my thoughts to my half-ass salsa dancing instead! Luv it!
